CTEC North America 2023 Training Courses

Training classes will start on Wednesday, April 26th after lunch and end at noon on Friday, April 28th. To register for training, please select this option when you register for the conference. Breakfast, breaks, and lunch will be provided each day. Below are the training schedule and class descriptions. If you register for training, please also plan to bring a laptop computer with you. Our training classes do not require you to install any special software. The only requirements are Wi-Fi connectivity and a browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge Chromium, or Safari for Apple devices. You are welcome to attend these classes without bringing your own computer. However, to get the most out of these classes, we highly recommend this as most of these sessions include time for hands-on exercises.
Wednesday, April 26 – Two Afternoon Options
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Lunch at leisure
A boxed lunch will be provided for participants that are heading to the airport, and those with a brief turn-around time into the training sessions.
12:30 PM – 4:30 PM | Reporting, Approvals, Calculations, and Statements in LabVabtage 8.8
Three feature sets that have received updates in LabVantage 8.8 include Reporting, Approvals and Calculations. Statements are new for LV8.8. Gain hands-on experience with the new collated reports, embedded Jasper, digital signatures, address and logo updates, approval by exception, automatic cross-sdi calculation refire, and statements features that are new in this release.
12:30 PM – 4:30 PM | Moving Master Data using Configuration Management and Transfer (CMT)
Moving data and configuration between systems can a challenge. Configuration Management and Transfer (CMT) simplifies this by providing robust support for the identification of change controls, check-in/check-out of objects under modification, intelligent packaging, importing, and the ability to specifically identify changes made between two points in time or and while importing a CMT package from another system.

6:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Free Shuttle to Lower Broadway
Need a ride? LabVantage provides a free and looping shuttle service from the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel to Lower Broadway in Nashville and back to the hotel. Pick-up from the Loews hotel is at the top of the hour and returns from the Assembly Hall at the half hour. The last bus leaves the hotel at 9:00 PM, and the last bus leaves the Assembly Hall on Lower Broadway at 9:30 PM. Seats are first come first serve. If the shuttle is full or you need a ride outside the shuttle time, ride-share options are available.

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Mastering LabVantage 8.8 Analytics: A comprehensive training to power your labs with AI and BI solutions
LabVantage Analytics (LVA) module offers state-of-the-art features for Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This course provides participants with hands-on experience in creating dynamic BI dashboards, charts, graphs, and reports, as well as designing AI data science workflows using LIMS data. By mastering these skills, participants will be equipped to build the “lab of tomorrow” that leverages the power of BI and AI. In addition, the course provides an overview of the latest features in LVA and showcases various LVA solutions that have been successfully deployed across multiple customers. Join us in this comprehensive training and take the first step towards unlocking the full potential of LVA.
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | ELN & LES with LabVantage 8.8 Improvements
The LabVantage ELN allows users to view, edit and manage laboratory data in a flexible manner that emulates paper documentation. This training class will teach you the fundamentals of our ELN including Workbooks, Worksheets, and the Worksheet Manager. Using a similar paperless approach, the LabVantage LES generates Worksheets that are based on a Test Method and a Global Worksheet Template. Once implemented, LES Worksheets can help enforce laboratory procedures, improve the quality of captured data, and lead users through the execution of complex testing methods.
In addition to the above, this training class will focus on the improvements that were implemented in LabVantage 8.8, including an enhanced spreadsheet control and more. This hands-on training will give you the introductory knowledge to dig deeper into the ELN & LES on your own system.

Friday, April 28 – Two Half-Day Options

8:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Using the New LabVantage Handsfree Installer
LabVantage has introduced a new installation and upgrade process for LabVantage 8.8. This allows you to set properties for how you want JBoss and LabVantage to be deployed. This new installer will streamline upgrades and installs significantly by greatly reducing the number of manual steps required to configure JBoss and Apache for a fully operational system to be created or upgraded in minutes rather than hours. This training will describe how to complete the process which will include a live demonstration of an install.
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM | How to Build a LabVantage Portal App
The new LabVantage Portal allows your external customers to send data to the LIMS and retrieve certain data in a manner that is controlled and secure. This training class will include the configuration of a new Portal app, how to manage users, and how to use the included Submission Request and Kit Request Portal applications.
