11:00 AM – 11:30 PM | Implementing LabVantage LIMS in PETROBRAS Research, Development & Innovation Center- CENPES

Bruno Moura, Senior Engineer, PETROBRAS – Research, Development & Innovation Center (RD&I) – CENPES

The CENPES currently has more than one hundred laboratories and pilot processing plants in an area of 308,000 m². Organized into three general management, namely: Midstream, Downstream and sustainability; Production development; Exploration and production, to meet the challenges and developments of PETROBRAS. The management of laboratory information is carried out in a non-integrated way, using different systems in each area.

The objective of the LIMS LabVantage implementation project is to unify and automate the management and processes of the CENPES laboratories in a single system, thus standardizing and optimizing management, reinforcing the value vision of the laboratories, and facilitating their coordination by managers. Also, optimizing the use of resources and facilitating access to the laboratory structure by researchers.

The project is under implementation with the first change management activities, installations, and releases in production for the first business area, PDIDMS, with approximately 20 laboratories and pilot plants, expected by June 2023 and another approximately 85 distributed in other 2 general business areas, PDIDP and PDIEP in subsequent releases.

Novo Nordisk is expanding our production heavily in the coming years, which will have a huge impact on all our laboratories across the world. In this session, we will discuss some of the topics that are important for us during this journey.
• Novo Nordisk strives to automate our processes, and we will share some of the initiatives we are working on. We would also like to know what your laboratory will look like 3-5 years from now.
• The more laboratories the more complex setup we also have. We will give a short introduction to some of the compliance issues we are facing at the moment, and how we have chosen to solve this on a short-term basis. Maybe you have some of the same challenges as us.
• There are several major concerns to consider for hosting a LIMS system which include security, data privacy, network latency, availability, and regulatory compliance. Taking these concerns into consideration, it is important for us to evaluate the various factors surrounding cloud solutions (private, public, or SaaS). What are your thoughts?
