European CTEC 2018 Training Courses

Training will take place Thursday, 7 June 2018, (after lunch) until noon on Friday, 8 June 2018. Breakfast, breaks and lunch will be provided each day. Below is the training schedule and course descriptions.

Thursday, 7 June

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) Introduction
Vaquero E1 & E2

We all come from using paper; from kindergarten to university, consuming information on a physical page becomes ingrained. The LabVantage ELN allows users to view, edit and manage laboratory data in a manner that emulates paper documentation. This training class will teach you the fundamentals of our ELN including Workbooks, Worksheets and the Worksheet Manager. This hands-on approach will give you the introductory knowledge to dig deeper into this rich feature set on your own system.

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Moving Data and Configurations Between Systems


Vaquero F1 & F2

When you are using multiple environments (development, test, production, etc.) in your laboratory, you often need to move data and configuration across these environments. In this class, we will look at different ways of exporting and importing data. We will begin with the basic exporting and importing of SDIs and web pages from standard List Pages. We will also talk about how ANT can be used to export multiple SDIs, configurations and SDCs. Finally we will cover how the data file import tool can be used to configure the import of various file formats.

Vaquero G1 & G2

There are many ways to extract data from your LabVantage database. Some of the most direct tools available to you are: AdHoc Queries, Configuration Reports, List Pages, the Global Search, and traditional third-party reports registered in LabVantage. Learn how to configure and execute these queries to mine your data effectively.

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Designing Simple Workflows
Vaquero E1 & E2

This one-day class introduces the design elements of LabVantage Workflows. Workflows simplify the user experience and reduce the learning curve thus improving adherence to standard procedures. This class teaches you to design workflows to suit the unique needs for each of your laboratory processes. At the end of this course, you will be able to build, execute and complete tasks. You will know the best practices for constructing your workflows using preconfigured tasks.

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | BioBanking Improvements



Vaquero F1 & F2

We have included many biobanking improvements in the last several versions of LabVantage. These enhancements fall into two categories, improving the usability and adding additional functionality. In this class we will cover the new biobanking services, new accessioning capabilities, consent tracking, request management and storage explorer. This is a “must-attend” class for anyone using the biobanking module.

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Creating Web Pages


Vaquero G1 & G2

This full-day class will give you the skills to extend your implementation using the Web Page Designer suite. This LabVantage toolkit is how you create new pages or modify existing layouts, pages, elements, page types and gizmos for use within the LabVantage application. You will learn how to control the behavior of your List, Maintenance, and Lookup pages through modifications to page properties. You will leave with the ability to tailor and streamline the user experience with the new Gizmos available in LV8.
