1:00 PM – 1:30 PM | Arming laboratories with a holistic business perspective

Today’s consumer is ever more demanding, seeking products that are developed faster, more sustainable and personalized, and delivered at lower costs.  To meet these consumer needs and be competitive, today’s laboratory needs a holistic perspective and efficient processes. However, most businesses have disparate, unconnected knowledge bases and manually driven processes that creates barriers to information access.  Decisions take longer and are made with less facts, increasing delays and risks to market launch. A key driver in enabling holistic perspective is connecting the knowledge bases of different parts of the business to create a unified source of truth that informs faster, better decision-making and execution.  For the product developer this means having real time access to more than just technical data.  Consumer, market, manufacturing, safety, and regulatory facts all need to be integrated to the entire product development process.  This presentation will provide perspectives on the evolving product development digital ecosystem.

This presentation will give an overview of why the customer’s biorepository chose to utilize LabVantage Managed Services for assistance with an upgrade from version 7.1 to version 8.4, as well as discuss the pros and cons experienced along the way.

10:00AM – 10:30 AM | Changing Mindsets to Implement a New Strategy for LIMS

Join us for a continuation of the story from last fall’s CTEC presentation on the implementation strategy for a LIMS with no customization, using only configured out of the box features. Now that we have multiple labs in our production environment and others ready to launch, were we able to stick to our strategy? The answer lies in our ability to influence a change in culture and mindset of our customers and finding champions within the lab that have helped us get buy-in from the user base.

Breakout Track 1

1:30 PM – 2:00 PM | Customer and LabVantage LIMS: The Pursuit of Global Lab Automation

As the pharmaceutical industry pursues efficiency and time becomes our biggest competitor, the customer recognized the need to adopt a standard LIMS and deploy it for all our laboratories. In this endeavor we partnered with LabVantage, selecting their pharma package for use across Catalent and leveraging their documentation and verification suite to support our validation effort. As we have worked through deployments, upgrades, and expanding functionality, we have identified issues and learned how to improve our process. It has showcased the benefits that come from using the latest version offered, developing a strong business case with buy-in from the affected stakeholders, and deploying it via a strategic plan. The lessons we have learned provide a standard approach that can provide guidance and improve confidence when planning, justifying, and implementing a deployment of LV LIMS.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM | Pharma Panel with Customer, LabVantage, and Audience Discussion

Customer & LabVantage Staff

Join us for a panel discussion, hosted by the customer and LabVantage!  This event provides the audience with a platform to discuss topics, including but not limited to: the use of the LV Verification Suite to support validation activities, the advantage of process standardization as a precursor to LIMS deployment, the benefits that LIMS brings to different types of labs, and the process of evaluating new functionality and expanding the use of LIMS.

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM | Managing LabVantage development using SCRUM and JIRA

Join us for a demonstration on how the customer & the LabVantage team utilize the Agile SCRUM methodology and JIRA software to manage project development, delivery, and to control change.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM | Implementing LES in a Global CRM

In a GMP laboratory environment, comprehensive documentation of laboratory experiments executed according to defined methods and standard operating procedures is mandated by regulatory requirements.  Traditional LIMS offers efficiencies for managing samples and workflows and eliminating transcription of data from instruments. But for a GMP lab, massive amounts of paper are still required to adequately document and control an experiment. The LabVantage Laboratory Execution System (LES) is a powerful tool designed to take the place of paper procedures and data collection forms used in GMP laboratory testing processes. The Global Head of IT for the Life Sciences division of a major CRO shares challenges, lessons learned and best practices from the experience implementing LES for a global network of Life Sciences labs.

Breakout Track 2

1:30 PM – 2:00 PM | Streamlining Operations with LabVantage Workflows

The focus of this talk will be on the implementation of LabVantage Workflows for a new product and the replacement of traditional LIMS operations. There were key learnings throughout the implementation process, both technical and usability related, that will benefit those considering the use of the LabVantage Workflow module in their future implementations. The presenters will also discuss the benefits and trade-offs from a development perspective.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM | Using LabVantage to build configurable Molecular Workflows

Anand Manohar, LabVantage Product Management & Professional Services

Join us for a demonstration of our latest Molecular Workflows and how to build new Workflows utilizing the OMICS workflow component.

2:30 – 3:00 PM | Enhanced Data Tracking and Monitoring of Genomic Laboratory Processes through the Workflows Engine

The LabVantage Workflow Engine allows for dynamic configuration of methodical processes to support genomic analysis, from blood to DNA to sequenced data. See how Bench Worksheets may be leveraged through the Workflows to interface with Equipment and track Reagents consumed. Make use of Dashboard capabilities to monitor samples and runs throughout the laboratory, allowing for informed scheduling decisions and efficiency planning.

3:00 – 3:30 PM | Enabling Continuous Improvement via LIMS Upgrade

The customer lab has been utilizing LabVantage LIMS software since 2004. In 2017, the customer embarked upon an upgrade effort to modernize their LIMS software and provide a platform to enable continuous improvement by leveraging new features and functions of the LIMS. The upgrade was completed June 2019. The new LabVantage software is leveraged by the customer’s water quality lab to streamline sample receiving, improve chain of custody tracking and data management, provide capability for mobile access to water quality sampling requests and data capture, reduce cyber vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with drinking water regulatory requirements.

9:30 AM – 10:00 AM | Using LabVantage to Streamline Communication with the Laboratory

Many LIMS implementations focus on data intake and storage, however, the most impactful aspect of a LIMS system for users is the ways in which data are used and communicated out of the system. This presentation will focus on two separate ways in which data from LabVantage is communicated back to the laboratory and laboratory management. The first focus will be on the ways in which information is communicated to laboratory users including the use of sample labels and email notifications. The second focus will be on the ways that reporting is used to provide information to both the laboratory management to track metrics and costs as well as communication to the LIMS administrators to proactively detect issues and resolve them before users even knew that they existed.
