LabVantage offers SAPPHIRE™ training in our training centers in Bridgewater, NJ, USA, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK and Kolkata, India. Proper training is essential to employee productivity, and hands-on training is the best way to learn how to maximize the use of SAPPHIRE. You may register online, or please feel free to contact the nearest training center for more information, including pricing and availability.

We are excited to offer a new approach to training. "SAPPHIRE Certification" is now an option. "Introduction to SAPPHIRE" and "Basic SAPPHIRE Administration" are the first in a series of certification classes that are currently available at this time. Passing multiple course exams will allow you to become "SAPPHIRE Certified" in the Levels defined below (classes may be taken without choosing to take the certification exam):

Intro110 - Introduction to SAPPHIRE

This course will introduce the student to the components of SAPPHIRE and allow them to work in SAPPHIRE's "Out of the Box" environment. It will provide the foundation as the entry level for all certification levels. Topics include starting, closing, and verifying components of SAPPHIRE including Jaguar application server, the browser, Evergreen and the SAPPHIRE Console (the web application interface for SAPPHIRE Database installation/maintenance). Familiarity within each of these areas, including navigation, terminology and their interrelationships. The student will learn the SAPPHIRE database structure in terms of its tables, columns, rows and links and will be able to use SAPPHIRE's "Out of the Box" features. Students taking this course do not need to have any previous knowledge of a programming language or database experience. All materials will be provided during the training.

Admin120 - Basic SAPPHIRE Administration

An introduction to the fundamental administrative issues involved in developing, implementing and maintaining the SAPPHIRE environment. This course is primarily designed for those who will be involved with developing and/or maintaining the SAPPHIRE environment. Topics to be covered include: Adding Users and Roles, Creating and Extending SAPPHIRE Data Collection's (SDC), Creating Approval Types, Detection and Specification Limits, Workitems, Creating Parameters and Parameter Lists, Modifying the Site Map, Creating and modifying Maintenance and List Pages and adding them to the site map, adding actions and Javascript to buttons, creating queries and adding search criteria to pages. Students taking this course should have completed the "Introduction to SAPPHIRE" course or have prior database experience. All materials will be provided during the training.

  Length: 3 days course with optional Certification Exam
  Prerequisites: If taking this course for certification, a successful completion of Intro 110 is required. If no certification is desired, some database knowledge and database familiarity is suggested.

NFF220 – SAPPHIRE- New Features and Functionalities

This course will provide current SAPPHIRE users with an opportunity to learn about the new features and enhancements in SAPPHIRE R5.1.  This training will provide students with hands on time configuring and working with many of the new SAPPHIRE features including, but not limited to: Data Entry, Data File Transfer, eForms, Policies and the new features of DDT.  This course will not cover existing functionality, so students need to have prior experience working with SAPPHIRE. All materials will be provided during the training.

  Prerequisites: Students taking this course should have prior experience with SAPPHIRE.  Existing functionality is not being covered in this Training.

BB/ASL130 - SAPPHIRE BioBanking & ASL

This course will introduce the SAPPHIRE student to the components of SAPPHIRE's Biobanking solution. It will provide a foundation in the understanding of BioBanking Master Data, Controlled Vocabularies, Sample Allocation, Data Entry and Laboratory Operations. This course also includes a component on SAPPHIRE's Advanced Storage and Logistics module, where the student will learn about the basics of creating and modifying Storage units and storage hierarchies. Other topics include: Creating Aliquots and Derivatives along with the instruction on the Freeze\Thaw Cycle. Students taking this course should have some BioBanking knowledge and completion of the Introduction to SAPPHIRE course is strongly recommended, but not mandatory.

  Prerequisites: Students taking this course should have a BioBanking background. Completion of the Introduction to SAPPHIRE Course is strongly suggested, but not required. All materials will be provided during this training.

Evrgrn210 - Advanced Evergreen

This course will introduce the SAPPHIRE Developer to some of the more advanced configuration options available within SAPPHIRE's EvergreenT Web Page Designer. This course will require writing bits of JSP code, as well as making some JavaScript modifications. Some of the topics included are; creating a simple custom page type, creating a custom layout, configuring dynamic lookup pages, configuring the detailmaint element and linkedsdimaint element, as well as using database nested selects.

  Level: Advanced
  Length: 3 days course with optional Certification Exam
  Prerequisites: Students taking this course are required to have successfully completed the Basic SAPPHIRE Admin class. SAPPHIRE configuration experience and prior programming knowledge are suggested. All materials will be provided during the training.

BO110 - Business Object Desktop Intelligence XI Release 2 Basic Reporting

This class is a combination of instructor-led lecture, discussions, and demonstrations with a heavy emphasis on hands-on workshops to teach Desktop Intelligence XI R2 basic reporting concepts. Topics to be covered include data warehousing concepts, Desktop Intelligence data sources and providers, creating reports and charts, building queries, formatting techniques, using the Slice and Dice panel, sorting and filtering, creating drill-down reports, using new Find functionality, creating and applying alerters. This class is designed for both technical and non-technical business analysts working in a business environment who require access to information contained in a data warehouse to generate a variety of reports and graphs utilizing the Desktop Intelligence Basic Reporting tools.

This class is a combination of instructor-led lecture, discussions, and demonstrations with a heavy emphasis on hands-on workshops to teach Business Objects XI R2 basic Designer concepts. Topics to be covered include universe creation, creating database connections, joins, classes and objects, hierarchies, loop resolution, contexts, table aliases, aggregate awareness, viewing table keys, creating predefined conditions, restrictions, universe maintenance, and universe distribution/documentation. This class is designed for technical analysts who are required to create the Business Objects XI R2 semantic layer as an interface to the data in a data warehouse, data mart, or database.

SQL*LIMS Key Personnel

It is designed for the SQL*LIMS Database Administrator, SQL*LIMS Manager and LIMS Implementation team members who will be responsible for the setup and maintenance of the SQL*LIMS v5 system. This is the fundamental class for SQL*LIMS and prerequisites to other classes.

SQL*LIMS System Administration

This This five-day course provides a thorough understanding of SQL*LIMS Administration. It includes details about the different components of the SQL*LIMS Architecture including the Oracle database, Oracle Application Server, and SQL*LIMS Business Logic Server, in addition to providing instructions on how to administer, troubleshoot and maintain these different components. This course also includes information about the additional client administration tools including the Admin Tool, Remote Notification GUI, and the Archiver. It is designed for the Database Administrator, the SQL*LIMS Manager or team members who will be responsible for the setup, implementation, backups and maintenance of the SQL*LIMS v5 system.

SQL*LIMS Advanced Topics

This five-day course provides an in-depth understanding of the SQL*LIMS Data Model, in addition to exploring some of the more Advanced Features of SQL*LIMS. It is designed for the SQL*LIMS Manager and LIMS Implementation team members who will be responsible for writing queries against SQL*LIMS tables, creating reports and events, customizing the application, or writing code to interface with the system. At the end of this class, a student should be able to understand how data is stored and retrieved, create and install reports using Oracle Reports Builder, set up status actions, create intermediate and PL/SQL cross-task calculations, customize the SQL*LIMS interface, work with ASL, ARE, and TPL scripting languages, and understand how to use the PL/SQL Application Programming Interface (API) packages and procedures. Prerequisites: SQL*LIMS v4x or v5 Key Personnel.
