| Marshall University selects LabVantage Sapphire™ |

Bridgewater, NJ July 26, 2001. LabVantage Sapphire™ to help streamline mission-critical information management processes for the West Virginia State Police Forensics Laboratory and the Marshall University Forensic Science Center CODIS Laboratory
LabVantage Solutions, a leading provider of laboratory information management solutions for leading laboratories, today announced that the Forensics Science Center at Marshall University (MUFSC), has selected LabVantage Sapphire™ to automate the process for rapidly analyzing DNA specimens, and provide DNA analysis results to the FBI CODIS database. The system is being installed in conjunction with a Forensics Laboratory system at the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) criminal forensics laboratory in Charleston, West Virginia.
LabVantage Sapphire™ enables leading laboratories to reduce their operating costs and to rapidly share information with their customers beyond the four walls of their laboratory. Sapphire™ will assist the Forensics Science Center at Marshall University (MUFSC) in accurately analyzing DNA specimens by automating every aspect of the data acquisition and data management from various micro titer plates and instruments. The automation of work procedures, instrumentation interfacing, and the availability of worksheets/reports will reduce the laboratories' operating costs while maintaining the highest possible integrity of their data.

About the West Virginia State Police Forensic Laboratory. The Forensic Laboratory is a full service laboratory that provides forensic services in the areas of Biochemistry (DNA Analysis), Latent Prints, Trace Evidence, Documents, Drug Analysis, Firearms and Toxicology. The Laboratory provides forensic services to all law enforcement agencies in the state and administrates the state CODIS, AFIS and DRUGFIRE programs.
About the Forensic Science Center at Marshall University. The Forensic Science Center at Marshall University provides CODIS services for the State Police Department in West Virginia. The laboratory was recently established in part by a grant from the NIJ in order to provide management of the convicted offender database for the State of West Virginia. The laboratory resides in a renovated building on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. The main objective of the laboratory is to provide the state a mechanism for rapidly analyzing specimens sent by the West Virginia State Police Department and ultimately providing the results of the DNA analysis to the CODIS database maintained by the FBI.
